insideThe Museum of Rhinebeck History is housed in the historic building known as the Quitman House, located 3.5 miles north of the Village of Rhinebeck
at 7015 Rte 9, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.

The Museum’s mission is to collect, catalog and interpret the history of the town. The collection of gifts to the Museum includes letters, books, journals, clothing, furniture, photographs, postcards, and other related artifacts which reveal the life of this community.

Many of the objects are kept on display in the Museum’s permanent collection. On special occasions, artifacts have been put on long-term loan to organizations such as the Rhinebeck Reformed Church and the Chancellor Livingston Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, and those loans have been renewed yearly. As well, the Museum and the Quitman House have on loan in the front parlor antiquities from the Robert Sands House through Wilderstein, which were given to them by Montgomery Anderson, a Sands descendant.
